Awaiting the Final Piece

Being so close to the end goal of a long journey and encountering a setback is like being separated from your destination by an impassable body of water.

After many years of losing touch with your ambitions, it's hard not to celebrate when there’s a break in that monotonous cycle. Finally breaking free from the ball and chains and experiencing that once-blurry path crystalize is a feeling like no other. Every day, month, and year spent pursuing a seemingly purposeless journey suddenly has justification. It’s the final piece in a confusing puzzle that’s been awaiting completion for what seems like an eternity.

But finding the final piece leaves a vulnerable work of art that can be destroyed with one shake of the table. It may seem as though such a celebratory time is untouchable by even the most negative occurrences; as though you’re on a pedestal awaiting your reward. However, feeling untouchable is dangerous because there is no such thing.

Abrupt removal from this pedestal is quite possible and failing to understand that can be detrimental to the mind. There are external forces that we cannot control no matter how hard we try to control them. Being able to dismiss these forces and recognize what can be controlled is the key to rising from a setback and having an anchor for future success.
