Through the Right Lens

I’ve been trying to pursue a version of myself that doesn’t exist.

In my efforts to manifest a skewed reality, I’ve shied away from the characteristics that define my identity. The characteristics that hold the key to a bright future. Despite the obvious signs that point in one direction, I’ve held a steady gaze toward the opposite path; the path that seems perfect yet will force me to become someone I’m not.

Sometimes the most obvious things are the most difficult to admit. For as long as I can remember, I have endured an arduous journey to self-acceptance. And as much as it seems to come to a close, the journey will never end. The first step to acceptance is welcoming each aspect of your identity.

Identity is anything but perfect yet perfect in every way.

Identity is the conductor of life’s beautiful choir.

Identity can and should be embraced.

All it takes is a gaze through the right lens.
